AT&T is now selling refurbished iPhones for as low as $99. I’ve had refurbished Apple computers before, and they were always flawless.

Woo-hoo! Let's download some music again!
The RIAA is done suing individuals. Back to relentless downloading! Does this mean we get muxtape back? That would be awesome.

Polaroid bankruptcy again (twice in 7 years). →
Can somebody please just license the technology and bring back all the fun film? I promise there’s a big market for it. Some of us still think digital is the devil.

Beating a (hopefully) dying horse
Not to go on and on about the potential auto bailout, but here’s another article that outlines how the unions have helped stoke the fight against bankruptcy for the big 3. I don’t know that there will be riots as described, but I do think once people realize what is happening, there will be serious unrest and a BIG argument about fairness. This is another system that needs a shake...

upsider: thephenthouse: offnotesnotes: productivitydecreaser: Radiohead - Idioteque (live on SNL) As amazing as this performance is, it’s even better when you remember why it was significant. They played in October of 2000, Kid A had just came out to critical acclaim/bewilderment and the rest America still knew Radiohead as either the makers of “Creep” or “Karma Police.” The number one...

How the economic crisis will make us better
Here is a link to a recent Bloomberg article that explains how Bernard Madoff has admitted to employees and the FBI that his entire business is largely a Ponzi scheme. His $50 billion investment firm was started in 1960 with $5,000. Despite being well-respected in the financial industry, and being credited as the firm that helped “make” the Nasdaq market, Madoff has said it was all...

From the article: So how does one rack up a $430,000 travel bill? It’s a valid question, since we’ve learned that Charlie Crist, his fiancee, his fiancee’s sister, nine bodyguards and several dozen of Charlie’s closest friends and business associates somehow managed to spend that much money this past summer on a European trade mission.

Investing in innovation, not failure →
A short blog about an idea in the UK to dedicate money toward a sort of “emergency” fund for innovative startups. I’m not saying it’s the best idea, but money is best committed to the future, not past screw-ups.

Let them die
In reference to the auto-makers and financial firms begging for our tax dollars: Let ‘em die! They put themselves in this position with the unions and several other poor strategies. (Do we really need a Mercury Mountaineer AND a Ford Explorer?) Funny thing is, the auto makers are victims of their own poor business decisions in a swift crisis. Many of the financial firms that are already...

Orlando parking cost DOUBLING! →
Parking costs downtown are going to double. How ridiculous. What a great way to encourage people to come downtown. Just an idea to downtown restaurants and bars: Offer some sort of deal for showing a valid parking stub. It might be the only way to have this insane increase keep you in business. I wish I had a better answer for what they should do, but all I can think of is that this is not it.
